Family festival with live music, Weißwurst breakfast and children's program at the Evangelisches Waldheim on the Filder plateau
The Stuttgart-Degerloch district is located at an altitude of around 480 meters on the edge of the Filder plateau, with a panoramic view of the Stuttgart basin. This is where the funicular railway goes up, where the Zacke (cogwheel railway) starts, where the famous Karlshöhe city tour ends. Degerloch has its own district self-awareness — and the GHV (Degerloch Trade and Commerce Association) provides the annual meeting point for the neighborhood with the Degerlocher Frühling.
The Evangelisches Waldheim Degerloch is located near the forest on the edge of the Filder and offers extensive outdoor areas, shade under old trees, and perfect infrastructure for a spring festival with families. Starting at 11 a.m., the Weißwurst breakfast begins: Bavarian Weißwurst, sweet mustard, pretzels, Weißbier — Stuttgart's version with Swabian-Bavarian crossover charm.
The seven-piece party band Hirschfieber provides the musical accompaniment — a Stuttgart cover band with a pop, rock, and Schlager repertoire, ideal for the midday atmosphere between breakfast and coffee time. Dance floor under the open sky, sing along, sway along, all generations mingle.
The children's program is the heart of the event. Games street with skill and movement games, organized by SV Hoffeld and TuS Stuttgart. Bouncy castle for the little ones. Punch and Judy theater with classic plays. Professional face painting (butterfly, tiger, pirate, princess — whatever the children want). The Degerloch Youth Fire Brigade presents vehicles and equipment, often with hands-on activities.
In the afternoon, the coffee and cake buffet opens with homemade cakes — donated and baked by members and volunteers from Degerloch. Classics: cheesecake, apple crumble, Black Forest gateau, Swabian yeast braid, fresh strawberry cake. Coffee, tea, soft drinks. The proceeds go to the association's work and neighborhood projects.
The Degerlocher Frühling is not a huge festival, but a real neighborhood festival — manageable, familiar, and run by volunteers. If you want to get to know Stuttgart away from the Königstraße tourist route, this is the place to be. Bonus: Before or after the festival, you can take the funicular railway (also called "Stuttgart-Süd-Pendel") up to the Waldfriedhof and the Karlshöhe viewing platform or enjoy the panoramic view from the Fernsehturm Stuttgart (1956, the world's first reinforced concrete TV tower) — both located directly in Degerloch.
The Degerlocher Frühling 2026 opens its doors on Mother's Day Sunday (May 10) at the Evangelisches Waldheim for an intergenerational neighborhood festival. Family classics with the Hirschfieber band, games street by local clubs, and a coffee and cake buffet.
Free admission. Food and drinks for purchase — proceeds for association work.
Take the U7/U8/U12 subway lines to Albplatz or Degerloch, then a short walk. Take the funicular railway (10) from Südheimer Platz up to Degerloch. Parking is difficult in the district by car — better to use public transport.
Sunday, May 10, 2026, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.
After the festival, take the funicular railway to the Waldfriedhof or walk to the TV tower — the classic round trip through Degerloch.
