Baroque concert with Concierto Ibérico in the Polßen village church — August 8, 2026, 4 PM
Few concert settings are as charming as a baroque ensemble in a small village church. The acoustics of older sacred buildings with their stone walls and wooden ceilings are particularly well-suited to the sound of historical instruments — baroque trombone, recorders, theorbo, harpsichord. The Uckermark Music Weeks have been capitalizing on this appeal for years: classical music in atmospheric, often remote venues in the region, far from the grand concert halls, close to the audience and the location.
The ensemble Concierto Ibérico plays Iberian music from the 17th and 18th centuries on historical instruments. Artistic direction and baroque trombone: Juan González Martínez. The other members on August 8, 2026, in Polßen: Inés Pina Pérez (baroque recorders), Miguel Bellas (Spanish guitars and theorbo), Lea Suter (16-foot harpsichord), and Peter Kuhnsch (percussion). The program "Fandango — Inspiration" focuses on the Fandango — this archetypal Iberian dance — and traces its diverse influences from the Italian Renaissance and Spanish court music to the early 18th century. A literary-musical journey lasting 60 to 75 minutes.
Polßen is a district of the municipality of Gramzow in the southeastern part of the Uckermark district. The small village church, a typical medieval fieldstone building, is one of the oldest structures in the village. The church seats just under 100 people — an intimate format that guarantees closeness between musicians and audience. Those traveling from Berlin or Schwedt drive through the typical Uckermark landscape with fields, lakes, and tree-lined roads.
The 2026 Uckermark Music Weeks take place from August 1 to 23 and include over twenty concerts. Programmatic aim: medieval to contemporary music in atmospheric venues throughout the Uckermark. New for 2026 are venues such as the Hyperschale Templin and Gutshaus Woltersdorf, further expanding the venue repertoire. Three festival concerts are scheduled as open-air events — weather permitting. Tickets are available via Reservix.
Anyone who experiences classical music in the region knows: the sound in a small village church can be just as good as the acoustics in a large concert hall — it creates a concentration that is often lacking in large venues. The concert on August 8, 2026, in Polßen is therefore a worthwhile event not only for lovers of Iberian baroque music but also for anyone who wants to experience classical music in an unusual setting. Reservations via Reservix are strongly recommended — seats are limited.
