Chamber music in the baroque splendour of Schloss Engers
The baroque Schloss Engers in Neuwied is one of the most beautiful concert venues in Rhineland-Palatinate. Built in the 18th century by Elector Johann IX. Philipp von Walderdorff as a summer and hunting lodge, it is now home to the Landesstiftung Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz and an important venue for top-class chamber music. The Diana Hall with its ceiling frescoes and the castle rooms offer acoustics and an atmosphere that artists and audiences alike appreciate.
The 2026 season includes five concerts between April and November. The opening on April 19th features a programme with works by Bach, Mozart, Bartók, and Glière. On May 23rd, the young violinist Ziyu He, winner of the renowned Yehudi Menuhin Competition, will perform. Markus Tomasi presents two dates: as a soloist on June 14th, and with the Quartett Primarius on November 21st. The autumn season opens on October 10th with a concert featuring baritone Bo Skovhus.
The programming focuses on a mix of established stars and promising young talents. Ziyu He, born in 2000, is among the outstanding violinists of his generation. Bo Skovhus is an internationally sought-after baritone, whose song recitals are among the highlights of the season. Markus Tomasi combines solo brilliance with chamber music experience. This mix gives the Schloss Concerts their unmistakable profile.
Schloss Engers is managed by the Landesstiftung Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz, which operates, among other things, the academy for young string and wind players here. The concert series is thus embedded in a rich musical environment that combines support for young talent with international top-level performances.
The 2026 season is spread across five concerts throughout the year, following the series' established model of gracing spring, summer, and autumn with chamber music highlights. Schloss Engers, as a historic concert venue, provides the ideal backdrop for the diverse ensembles – from string quartets to song recitals.
The exact programme details, start times, and seating arrangements will be communicated on the tickets.vibus.de platform and in the venue's programme booklets.
