City-Fest Grefrath with Street Food Festival 2026

Town Festival Plus Street Food on the Lower Rhine

For years, City-Fest Grefrath has been the most important town festival in the Lower Rhine municipality of Grefrath in the Kreis Viersen district. On Sunday, May 10, 2026, there will be a premiere: The traditional stage program will be combined for the first time with a Street Food Festival by the well-known Streetfood-Agentur Oberhausen. This will make Grefrath's Market Square not only a stage and shopping mile but also a culinary meeting point — three attractions in one day.

The Three Attractions

Street Food Festival (Premiere!)

For the first time in 2026, Grefrath's Market Square will feature food trucks from Streetfood-Agentur Oberhausen. International specialties — from Asian cuisine and Mediterranean delicacies to BBQ and vegan/gluten-free options. Open from 12 PM to 6 PM. The street food concept is new for Grefrath and aims to expand the festival permanently.

Sunday Shopping (1 PM–6 PM)

The Grefrath stores will be open on the festival day from 1 PM to 6 PM — boutiques, bakeries, pharmacies, toy stores. Shopping with a festive atmosphere, special offers, and tastings in most shops.

Stage Program

Various acts will alternate on the main stage at the Market Square:

• Fashion shows by Grefrath boutiques — Spring Collections 2026
• Live music by regional bands
• Dance performances by local dance schools
• DJ Detlef Belk — the classic DJ from the Bergisches Land region with hits from Schlager music and Karneval sets
• Die Zottels a cappella — the Lower Rhine a cappella group with vocal arrangements of pop classics

Grefrath on the Lower Rhine

Grefrath is a municipality on the Lower Rhine in the Kreis Viersen district (North Rhine-Westphalia), located between Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, and the Dutch border. With about 15,000 inhabitants, Grefrath is manageable — and that's precisely why the City-Fest works so well: a compact town center, all important shops and restaurants within a small area, and a palpable local identity.

Ice Arena as a Landmark

Grefrath is known regionally for the Grefrath Ice and Event Arena — one of the largest ice sports venues on the Lower Rhine, which has hosted World and European Figure Skating Championships. However, the City-Fest itself takes place not here, but in the historic town center.

Organizers and Concept

The Werbegemeinschaft Grefrath InTakt e.V. is the association of Grefrath's traders and the festival committee of the City-Fest. The concept combines business promotion with family entertainment — a model that works in many Lower Rhine communities. The integration with the 2026 Street Food Festival is a deliberate step to broaden the audience pool.
