Open-Air Cover Festival on the Brewery Courtyard — Break 2026, Return 2027
The FLENS Festival is a format of the Flensburger Brauerei: once a year, the brewery courtyard at Munketoft 12, in the Flensburg Neustadt district, transforms into an open-air concert area. Since its first edition in 2007, the festival has been a firm fixture in the Flensburg summer. 19 editions have already taken place, each year with around 4,000 visitors.
Musically, the FLENS Festival clearly focuses on cover bands from rock and pop — songs that appeal to audiences of all age groups. The mix of familiar tunes, brewery atmosphere, and a manageable number of visitors has given the festival its own profile: less of a large concert, more of a casual summer festival among friends — and under the Flensburg brewery chimneys.
The gastronomic offer is deliberately kept practical: Bratwurst, fish rolls, fries, and crêpes are the classics. Beer, of course, comes directly from the Flensburger Brauerei — the shortest distances between brewery and guest.
The festival is cancelled for 2026. The reason: The Flensburger Brauerei is building a new brewhouse on its premises. "This construction is very complex and requires not only a lot of space but also a lot of commitment," explains the brewery. During the construction phase, the brewery courtyard cannot be used for a major event. Return announced for 2027 — the brewery explicitly plans the festival for the period after construction is completed.
The Flensburger Brauerei is one of the most famous breweries in Germany — the Flens swing-top bottle is one of the most iconic beer bottles in the country. The FLENS Festival uses this identity as its venue: not just any city festival, but one that is inextricably linked to the brewery's brand core. Anyone visiting the city at the head of the fjord should mark the festival weekend in their calendar for 2027.
The Flensburger Brauerei has officially cancelled the FLENS Festival for 2026: "This construction is very complex and requires not only a lot of space but also a lot of commitment." During the construction phase of the new brewhouse, the brewery courtyard cannot be used for a major event.
The brewery has explicitly announced that the festival will resume in 2027 — as soon as the construction of the brewhouse is completed. Whether the edition cancelled in 2026 will count as a regular 20th edition or if the festival will continue with a restart in 2027 has not yet been officially decided.
