The Schützengesellschaft St. Sebastianus 1588/1957 Montabaur e.V. looks back on an exceptionally long history. As early as 1588, a shooting fraternity was documented in Montabaur, which, after interruptions, was re-established in its current form in 1957. The society cultivates the traditional Westerwald shooting customs, organizes competitive shooting, and hosts the annual Schützenfest as a social highlight.
Festival Day at the Schützenhaus
The Schützenhaus Am Alten Galgen is located on the outskirts of Montabaur, nestled in a forest and meadow landscape that serves the shooting society as both a shooting range and a festival site. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the marksmen will open their gates from 3 PM: A festive parade, the King's Shoot (Königsschießen), refreshments, dancing, and socializing will characterize the afternoon and evening.
