The Comeback of the Year

From 1995 to 2016, the Chiemsee Reggae Summer was one of Europe's most prominent reggae and world music festivals. In those years, almost all the greats of international reggae performed on the festival grounds in Übersee am Chiemsee — from Damian Marley and Ziggy Marley to Sean Paul, Shaggy, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, and the German-language reggae scene around Gentleman, Patrice, and Seeed. In 2016, the festival era ended. Ten years later, in 2026, the Chiemsee Reggae Summer returns to its historic location.

Marteria and Capleton as Headliners

The choice of headliners reflects the festival's musical breadth: On one hand, German rapper Marteria, who bridges generations with his reggae-influenced hip-hop; on the other, the Jamaican dancehall icon Capleton. In total, over 30 acts will be on stage.

10,000 Tickets — Limited Comeback

Unlike the old mega-festivals, the 2026 Reggae Summer is consciously limited to 10,000 tickets — a tribute to the intimacy of the early years. Tickets went on sale on August 29, 2025, and were quickly almost completely sold out. The Almdorado camping complements the festival with comfortable accommodation options directly on Lake Chiemsee.

Übersee am Chiemsee — the Historic Venue

The venue is the traditional reggae site at Almfischer 3 in Übersee am Chiemsee, in the district of Traunstein. The grounds are located between the "Bavarian Sea" — Lake Chiemsee — and the foothills of the Alps. Übersee offers one of the most beautiful festival settings in Southern Germany: a wide view over the lake, mountains in the background, and spacious meadows for camping. A festival visit can be combined with a boat trip to Herreninsel or a hike in the Chiemgau Alps.
