Overview

The last edition of the Chiemsee Reggae Summer before the ten-year hiatus took place in 2016 in Übersee am Chiemsee. With it, the festival ended an era of over twenty years as Southern Germany's most important reggae festival. It will only return in 2026 — a comeback that many reggae fans have waited 10 years for.

From 1995 to 2016, the Chiemsee Reggae Summer was a fixture of the Southern German festival summer. On the stages in Übersee, almost all significant reggae and dancehall artists performed during these years — from Damian Marley and Ziggy Marley to Sean Paul, Shaggy, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, and the German-language reggae scene around Gentleman, Patrice, Seeed.

After 2016, the festival was discontinued. The event rights and the name lay dormant for ten years until the comeback for 2026 was announced in 2025.
