Open-air concert evening by FolkTreff Bonndorf in front of a baroque castle backdrop in the Black Forest
The Bonndorfer Schlossgarten Festival is a young open-air format by FolkTreff Bonndorf e.V. – a volunteer-run music association in the Hochschwarzwald (Waldshut district, Baden-Württemberg state). In 2026, the 2nd edition will be held, after the premiere in 2025 successfully established the concept with great acclaim: two bands in one evening, under the open sky in the castle gardens, in front of the baroque backdrop of Schloss Bonndorf.
Schloss Bonndorf is a baroque castle from the 17th/18th century with an impressive castle garden. Today, the castle houses municipal cultural spaces and a museum, and the garden is publicly accessible. With its old trees, winding paths, and sightlines to the castle, it offers the ideal backdrop for intimate open-air concerts with a few hundred spectators. FolkTreff Bonndorf deliberately uses this extraordinary location as a unique selling point.
The Freiburg trio Elektrosauna plays a distinctive mix of Indie Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Alternative Rock, and Punk. With their energetic sound and stage presence, the band has made a name for itself in recent years beyond the South Baden music scene. They will open the festival at 6 PM.
In the second set, Pig Ass & The Hoodlums will be on stage – a band drawing inspiration from classic 1950s rock'n'roll. With slap bass, vintage guitar, and uncompromising rock-and-roll spirit, they transport the vibe of that era into the present. Greaser style, pomade, and leather jackets included.
Bonndorf (~7,000 inhabitants) is located at 850 meters altitude in the Hochschwarzwald – a spa town, climatic health resort, and starting point for hikes in the gorge region. Bonndorf is known for the famous Wutachschlucht, the most spectacular gorge in the Black Forest. A concert visit can be ideally combined with a hiking weekend. Accommodation options in Bonndorf and the surrounding Black Forest villages.
