Country fair between meadows and the Wümme river
The Blockland in Bremen is a piece of real countryside in the middle of the Hanseatic city: wide wetlands, drainage ditches, farms, and dikes characterize the most rural district in the state of Bremen, just a few kilometers north of the center. It is precisely here that the Dorfgemeinschaft Blockland e.V. hosts the Block-Land-Partie once a year. Around the village community center at Niederblockland 20, the green meadow becomes a colorful festival ground for the whole family on a September Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Around 350 vintage cars, a threshing machine, and draft horses
The centerpiece is the large vintage car meeting with around 350 historic vehicles, which attracts enthusiasts from all over the region every year. In cooperation with DEKRA Automobil GmbH Bremen, a vehicle competition with prizes in various categories will also be held – a highlight for every gearhead. Vintage car enthusiasts from the surrounding area will demonstrate how grain was threshed in the past with a historic threshing machine, and draft horses will show traditional wood-hauling work. Radio Bremen will be on site with its classic T1 Bulli, and the Lilienthal brass band will provide musical accompaniment.
Arts and crafts and children's program
More than 35 artists and craftspeople line up under old trees. Visitors can watch broom makers, bone carvers, and basket weavers at their traditional work. For children, there is a large straw castle, football darts, a bouncy castle, pony rides, face painting, archery, a climbing wall, tractor rides, and a quiz at the Bremen hunters' wildlife mobile.

Rural customs in Hanseatic Bremen
The Block-Land-Partie is living heritage preservation. While the big city pulsates all around, Blockland celebrates its agricultural heritage – with old machines, horsepower in the truest sense, and a sense of community that holds the district together. For Bremen's residents, the country fair is a popular excursion into the green. Arrival by bicycle is expressly recommended; those arriving by car should approach the site via the Wasserhorster Deichseite (Ritterhude).
