Europe's largest design sales fair at the Deichtorhallen
For years, BLICKFANG has seen itself as the "largest design shopping event and international platform" for independent designers. The Hamburg edition — part of a Europe-wide BLICKFANG tour that also includes Vienna, Zurich, and Basel, among others — is one of the central destinations for design enthusiasts in the North, with around 120 exhibiting labels and thousands of visitors.
The venue is the Deichtorhallen, one of Hamburg's most important art exhibition houses. The two historic market halls from the late 19th century — converted into exhibition halls in the 1980s — offer the ideal backdrop for a design fair with their high, bright steel-frame structures: industrial-historic and museum-modern at the same time.
The spectrum of exhibiting labels includes:
Programmatically, BLICKFANG explicitly distances itself from the industrial mass market: handcrafted, often regionally produced, with an emphasis on quality over quantity, using sustainable materials and production processes. When you buy a piece of furniture or jewelry, you get the story behind it — many designers are present at their stands to explain their work.
The Hamburg BLICKFANG has been held annually since 2013. 2026 will be the 14th edition. The format has established itself as a fixture in the North German design calendar during this time, attracting an audience from Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, as well as from the Benelux countries.
In 2026, the Hamburg BLICKFANG will once again use the Deichtorhallen architecture as a spacious stage. Around 120 European independent designer labels will present their latest collections — many designers will be present at their stands. The curatorial line remains the same: handcrafted, regionally produced, with a focus on sustainability.
A Friday evening ticket at the reduced price of €11 is ideal for an after-work entry; the 3-day pass (€25) is worthwhile for intensive shopping and in-depth conversations with the exhibitors. Children under 15 have free admission.
