The Baiersdorfer Krenmarkt is a traditional customs and enjoyment market in Baiersdorf, a town in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in the state of Bavaria. Baiersdorf is considered the center of Franconian horseradish cultivation – no wonder the Kren has its own festival here.
Opening with the Horseradish Queen
At 11 a.m., the First Mayor, together with the Horseradish Queen, opens the market with the symbolic harvest of a horseradish root. Every two years, a new Horseradish Queen is also crowned – an ambassador for the pungent tuber and the region.

Pungent Kren dishes are the focus: Krenfleisch with dumplings, Krensüppchen, and Krenbrot invite you to taste. In addition, there are natural products, artisanal and agricultural products, a tourism exchange for the metropolitan region, and information about health and the healing effects of horseradish.
