Wine festival and Christmas market in the festively decorated village center on the 3rd Advent weekend – a Palatinate variation of the Christmas market
The Ilbesheimer Advent is a typical example of the Palatinate Winzeradvent tradition: not a classic Christmas market with commercial stalls, but a mixture of a wine festival and an Advent market, supported by local vintners and associations. The festively decorated village center of Ilbesheim becomes the scene for an intimate Advent celebration on the 3rd Advent weekend.
The focus is on the mulled wine from local vintners, complemented by Winzerglühwein weiß (vintner's white mulled wine) based on Riesling, as well as still wines and sparkling wine. The vintners of Ilbesheim work in one of the most famous Palatinate wine-growing areas: the Kalmit Massif, with the Großlage of the same name and the famous single vineyard Im Sonnenschein. These wines are served directly from the producer during the Advent festival.
Accompanying the wine service, stalls with handmade Advent decorations, arts and crafts, Christmas baked goods, honey, and jams from the region are set up in the village center. Advent songs and brass bands provide the musical atmosphere, while fairy lights and fir green immerse the village center in an Advent mood.
Ilbesheim is a classic Palatinate wine village with around 1,200 inhabitants, located at the foot of the Kalmit. Its location between Landau and Edenkoben makes it easily accessible. The village is also known for the Weintor des Mandelpfads (Wine Gate of the Almond Path), a section of the well-known Palatinate Almond Path. During the Advent event, however, the village center transforms into a purely wintery, festive space.
The 2026 edition continues the successful concept of previous years: an Advent wine and market festival in the village center, supported by vintners and associations. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late autumn. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
