1 Municipality, 2 Associations, 3 Days of Festival — Joint Anniversary between Welzheimer Wald and Schwäbische Alb
From June 19 to 21, 2026, the municipality of Durlangen in the district of Schwäbisch Gmünd (Ostalbkreis) and its two music associations will celebrate a historic double anniversary: The Gesang- und Musikverein Concordia Durlangen e.V. celebrates its 125th anniversary, and the Musikverein Zimmerbach (Durlangen's northern district) celebrates its 100th association birthday. Under the joint motto “1 Municipality — 2 Associations — 3 Days of Festival,” both associations invite you to a festival weekend in the Durlangen town center.
The festival tent will be located in the Durlangen town center. For three days, there will be concerts, performances by friendly music associations and choirs, dancing, catering by the associations, and an extensive supporting program. Both associations have maintained friendships with other music and singing associations in the region for decades — the guest list is accordingly full. The associations themselves will handle the catering, and the festival catering is planned for the entire weekend.
The highlight on Sunday is traditionally the grand parade through Durlangen: Traditional costume and music groups, floats, and association delegations from all over the Ostalbkreis will march through the town center to the festival grounds, where the festival tent will be buzzing again for the grand finale. A family day with a children's program will round off Sunday.
Durlangen is a municipality of 1,700 inhabitants in the north of the Ostalbkreis, nestled between the Welzheimer Wald, the Mahdental, and the northern Swabian Jura. The main town and its three districts (Zimmerbach, Tanau, and Frickenhofen) form a village landscape with strong associations, where music and singing associations have shaped the cultural identity for over a century. The 2026 anniversary festival is the biggest event in the Durlangen calendar in years.
On the weekend of June 19 to 21, 2026, GMV Concordia Durlangen e.V. (125 years) and Musikverein Zimmerbach e.V. (100 years) will celebrate their joint anniversary festival in the Durlangen town center. Both associations have shaped the cultural life of the Ostalb municipality for over a century — the joint anniversary is the occasion for a three-day festival weekend with a festival tent, concerts, and a parade.
Friendly music associations and choirs from the Ostalbkreis and beyond are on the guest list. The festival catering, food service, and program are entirely organized by the associations themselves — the festival tent will become a communal meeting point for the entire region.
Detailed program and times will be published on durlangen.de.
Admission to the festival tent is generally free. Admission may apply to certain evening events. Food and drinks at usual festival prices at the association stands.
