Ummanz is a small, tranquil island west of Rügen and belongs to the Vorpommern-Rügen district. Characterized by meadows, Bodden waters, and a vast, sparsely developed landscape, Ummanz is considered a hidden gem for nature lovers. The Ummanz Island Runners, a hiking group, introduce people to this special landscape.

The Pentecost Hike

For Pentecost, the Island Runners organize their traditional Pentecost hike. Up to 100 participants experience the island of Ummanz in its spring light. The hike leads through the typical island landscape and offers insights into nature, wildlife, and island history. The event is accompanied by the DRK Rügen-Stralsund, which ensures the safety of the hiking group.

Pentecost marks the most beautiful time of spring on Ummanz: the meadows are in full bloom, the light over the Bodden waters is clear, and the island shows its quietest side. The Pentecost hike is therefore much more than a sporting event – it is a communal nature experience.

Hiking All Year Round

The Pentecost hike is part of a broader offering from the Ummanz Island Runners. From spring to autumn, they offer Friday evening hikes starting at 6 PM, and in autumn, the great crane migration is on the program. Thus, the Pentecost hike is an integral part of the island's hiking calendar.
