The Kultursommer auf der Mildenburg is a special open-air culture festival held in the courtyard of the Mildenburg castle above Miltenberg's old town. For just under two weeks, the festival offers a broad, diverse program in the unique setting of the medieval castle: concerts, poetry slams, comedy, open-air cinema, as well as crime and wine events. The Kultursommer is organized by STADTKULTUR Miltenberg in cooperation with the public library, museums, and the Schloss-Theater Miltenberg.

The 6th Kultursommer auf der Mildenburg takes place from July 27 to August 9, 2026. Concerts, poetry slam, comedy, open-air cinema, children's reading nights, and Crime & Wine in the courtyard of the Mildenburg in Miltenberg.

From July 27 to August 9, 2026, the 6th Kultursommer will take over the courtyard of the Mildenburg. STADTKULTUR Miltenberg is organizing the program in cooperation with the public library, museums, and – for the first time – the Schloss-Theater Miltenberg.

The program ranges from the opening concert by the music school to a castle serenade, poetry slam, and comedy, to open-air cinema, children's reading nights, and the crime reading with wine tasting "Crime & Wine".

Getting There

Miltenberg is accessible via the Aschaffenburg–Miltenberg railway line. The Mildenburg is located above the old town and can be reached by foot.

Tickets

Tip

In case of rain, individual events will take place in the Old Town Hall. The detailed program will be published on the website of the City of Miltenberg.

The Kultursommer auf der Mildenburg is the special open-air culture festival of the Lower Franconian town of Miltenberg in the Miltenberg district, Bavaria. The venue is the courtyard of the Mildenburg, which towers high above the historic old town and lends the festival a unique atmosphere.

Diverse Program

For just under two weeks, the Kultursommer offers a deliberately diverse program: classical and modern concerts, poetry slams, comedy ("Mildenburg lacht"), summer night songs, open-air cinema for families and adults, as well as the popular Crime & Wine format – a crime reading with wine tasting. Reading nights for children are also part of the offerings.

Cooperation of Cultural Institutions

The organizer is STADTKULTUR Miltenberg in cooperation with the Miltenberg Public Library, the Miltenberg Museums, and – for the first time from 2026 – the Schloss-Theater Miltenberg. This bundling of local cultural institutions ensures a varied program of music, literature, and stage arts.

A Festival for the Region

With its open-air character and the historic castle backdrop, the Kultursommer has become a regular summer event for Miltenberg and the entire lower Main Valley since its premiere in 2021. In case of rain, individual events are relocated to the Old Town Hall.
