A summer evening in the Old Kurpark – town festival with ten stages and fireworks at 11:45 PM
The Bad Soden Sommernachtsfest is the summer highlight of the spa and Taunus town in the Main-Taunus district. Organized by the town of Bad Soden am Taunus, the festival traditionally takes place on the third Saturday in August – so on August 15 in 2026 – from 2 PM to midnight, with over ten stages spread across the Old Kurpark, Königsteiner Straße, and the old town.
The venue is the town's most beautiful park: the Old Kurpark with its historic concert shell, old trees, spring water, and park design from the late 19th century. Bad Soden was a spa town for centuries – the townscape is shaped by this tradition. During the Sommernachtsfest, the park transforms into an open festival hall with ten parallel stages for one evening.
The official start at 3 PM is marked by the traditional beer tapping by the mayor at the concert shell of the Old Kurpark – the opening ritual that is standard at Hessian town festivals. Immediately afterwards, the stages begin with their programs.
The musical spectrum in 2026 will again be broad: more than ten stages spread across the festival grounds, featuring dance music, pop, and rock in various styles. The application period for bands ran from January 5 to April 30, 2026 – the final lineup will be published by the town in July/August.
The afternoon is clearly family-oriented. An extensive play program on the meadow in the Old Kurpark entertains the youngest guests – bouncy castle, play stations, interactive activities. From the evening onwards, the audience shifts to live music and adult entertainment.
The visual highlight is – a true Sommernachtsfest classic – the fireworks at 11:45 PM shortly before midnight. The best viewing point is the upper meadow in the Old Kurpark. With the Taunus skyline in the background and the nocturnal park atmosphere, the fireworks become an iconic image that many Bad Soden residents share on Instagram every year.
In addition to the stages, numerous stalls line Königsteiner Straße, offering arts and crafts, jewelry, gifts, and regional specialties. The culinary offerings are very diverse: sweet and savory dishes, cocktail bars, wine stands, and soft drinks. Bad Soden is an affluent suburb, and this is reflected in the stalls – more organic and boutique than classic fairground fare.
