Culture festival of the Burglesum district in Bremen North
Once a year, the Burglesum Culture Days transform the Burglesum district into a cultural stage for about eight days. With around 20 events β from concerts to readings, guided tours, lectures, and hands-on activities β a dense program is created for young and old, showing how diverse art and culture can be and what cultural treasures lie hidden in this part of the state of Bremen. The focus is on encounters, creativity, and shared experiences.
The Culture Days traditionally open on a Saturday at 3 p.m. with a festival at the historic Lesum harbor: a colorful stage program with live music and activities for the whole family to join in. From there, the program extends throughout the district over the following week β at various locations that become cultural hotspots for a few days.
The festival is coordinated by the Burglesum local office. For more than three decades, the volunteer working group Sommer in Lesmona (Summer in Lesmona) has been behind the program β a handful of people who put together this colorful program with great passion. This broad base in the district makes the Culture Days an identity-defining event.
Burglesum, with its districts around Lesum and Burg, is located where the Lesum flows into the Weser. The historic Lesum Harbor is a symbol of this maritime past β and an atmospheric opening location that combines the Hanseatic history of Bremen North with contemporary culture.
For the 33rd edition, the Burglesum Culture Days open on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 3 p.m. with a colorful festival at the historic Lesum Harbor β live music on stage and hands-on activities for all ages. In the following week until June 7, 2026, around 20 more events featuring music, art, and literature (concerts, readings, lectures, guided tours) will take place at various locations in the Burglesum district. The festival is coordinated by the Burglesum local office and supported by the volunteer AG Sommer in Lesmona.
The detailed daily program with all artists, times, and venues will be announced by the Burglesum local office as a program PDF on its website (ortsamt-burglesum.bremen.de) shortly before the festival begins, based on experience.
The opening event takes place at Lesum Harbor in the Burglesum district; further events are spread throughout the district. Burglesum is easily accessible by the Regio-S-Bahn (Bremen-Lesum station) and buses.
The opening festival at Lesum Harbor is free to enter; individual program points may have separate conditions. The program runs for about a week.
