Burglesum Culture Days

A Week of Culture in Bremen North

Once a year, the Burglesum Culture Days transform the Burglesum district into a cultural stage for about eight days. With around 20 events – from concerts to readings, guided tours, lectures, and hands-on activities – a dense program is created for young and old, showing how diverse art and culture can be and what cultural treasures lie hidden in this part of the state of Bremen. The focus is on encounters, creativity, and shared experiences.

Opening at Lesum Harbor

The Culture Days traditionally open on a Saturday at 3 p.m. with a festival at the historic Lesum harbor: a colorful stage program with live music and activities for the whole family to join in. From there, the program extends throughout the district over the following week – at various locations that become cultural hotspots for a few days.

Supported by the District – for Over 30 Years

The festival is coordinated by the Burglesum local office. For more than three decades, the volunteer working group Sommer in Lesmona (Summer in Lesmona) has been behind the program – a handful of people who put together this colorful program with great passion. This broad base in the district makes the Culture Days an identity-defining event.

Burglesum and the Water

Burglesum, with its districts around Lesum and Burg, is located where the Lesum flows into the Weser. The historic Lesum Harbor is a symbol of this maritime past – and an atmospheric opening location that combines the Hanseatic history of Bremen North with contemporary culture.
