Traditional Wine and Hof Festival on the second weekend of September with open vintner courtyards and music
Lieser is located directly on the banks of the Mosel between Bernkastel-Kues and Brauneberg. The village has largely retained its classic Mosel character, with historic vintner houses, a parish church, and the striking Schloss Lieser, which towers above the village. The local vintners cultivate the traditional vineyards around Lieser and use the "Lieser dreht auf" Hof festival to connect the village into a shared festival route.
From Friday, September 11, starting at 11 AM until Sunday, September 13, 2026, the Lieser vintners will open their courtyards for wine tastings, regional dishes, and live music. Riesling is the focus, complemented by Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, and sparkling wines. The courtyards serve Mosel cuisine – Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Schiefertaler ham, cheese platters, and sweet specialties.
Live music in selected courtyards creates additional atmosphere. The program remains in the character of a Hof festival: acoustic sets, small bands, and occasional cover bands create atmosphere without the festival becoming purely a concert event.
Mid-September is a particularly charming time on the Mosel: the grape harvest begins, the weather is usually mild, and the days still have a summer feel. Those who want to combine "Lieser dreht auf" with a stage on the Moselsteig trail or a cycling tour along the Mosel will find ideal conditions.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept. The participating courtyards coordinate their opening hours and offer their wines and food directly in the courtyard. Visitors walk between the locations.
As the weekend coincides with the "Fröhlicher Weinmarkt" (Merry Wine Market) in Traben-Trarbach and the "Zeltinger Wein & GenussRoute" (Zeltingen Wine & Enjoyment Route), several Middle Mosel events can be combined over an extended weekend.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The list of participating Lieser vintners will be published on the website of the municipality of Lieser.
Lieser is located directly on the B 53 between Bernkastel-Kues and Trier. By train, you can connect via Wittlich with a bus connection to the village.
