The Asperg clubs — Stadtkapelle Asperg with its traditional meatloaf stand, sports clubs, church communities, fire department — provide catering and live music. Free admission.

Club festival on the last weekend of July 2026

On Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, 2026, Asperg invites you to its annual town festival. The Asperg clubs will set up their stalls on the market square and church square and provide visitors with Swabian specialties, beer, wine, and cake. The Stadtkapelle Asperg will be present with its traditional meatloaf stand — a Mössingen specialty that belongs to summer in Asperg as much as the Hohenasperg itself.

The culinary offerings will be accompanied by live music on a small stage, occasional performances by the Stadtkapelle, and a children's program with a carousel, games, and face painting. The town festival is a club festival without commercial showmen — which makes it one of the most authentic events in the Ludwigsburg region.

Getting there

Asperg is located directly on the B 27 between Stuttgart (15 km south) and Ludwigsburg (5 km). By S-Bahn: S 4 / S 5 from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, Asperg stop — from there a 10-minute walk to the market square. By car: A 81 exit Ludwigsburg-Nord, then B 27. During the festival weekend, the market square will be closed to traffic — parking recommended on the outskirts of town or at the train station.

When the stalls are set up on the last weekend of July, Asperg's most important summer festival of the year begins. On Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Asperg clubs will transform the market square and church square into a festival mile directly below the striking Hohenasperg, the fortress at an altitude of 360 meters that earned Asperg its nickname "Swabian Bastille".

The town festival is a classic club festival: local clubs — Stadtkapelle Asperg, sports clubs, church communities, Liederkranz, fire department, DRK — each run a stand and finance part of their club work through the proceeds. The Stadtkapelle Asperg has been a permanent fixture of the festival for years with its famous meatloaf stand. In addition, there are Swabian specialties — Maultaschen, Schupfnudeln, Currywurst, fries, Schnitzel — as well as cake buffets, bratwurst, beer, and wine.

The Stadtkapelle Asperg — one of the city's flagships

The Stadtkapelle Asperg is one of the traditional music clubs in the region. With its Grand Orchestra, a youth orchestra, and active training for students, it shapes the musical life of the city. Its regular performances at the town festival, at the salon concert in the Stadthalle, and at church events make it one of Asperg's most visible club organizations.

Asperg — town at the foot of the Hohenasperg

Asperg, a medium-sized town with around 14,000 inhabitants in the Ludwigsburg district, is located directly at the foot of the Hohenasperg. The Hohenasperg fortress, Württemberg's state prison from the 16th to the 20th century, housed, among others, the poet Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart, the writer Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, and numerous resistance fighters during the Nazi era. Today, it serves as a hospital for prisoners and is a landmark of the town. The Asperger Stadtfest takes place within sight of this rock — an image that shapes the weekend.
