Ahlden (Aller) and the Castle

Ahlden (Aller) is the administrative seat of the Ahlden municipality in the Heidekreis district. The town is primarily known for Ahlden Castle, a baroque castle building, which is now known regionally as an auction house for antiques and art. The historic character of the castle and its location on the Aller river make it an attractive venue.

Schützenfest at the Castle

The Schützenfest of the local Schützenverein is held on the grounds around Ahlden Castle. This unusual combination of castle architecture and Schützenfest tradition makes the festival a special experience. King's shooting, parade, king's proclamation, and king's ball form the basic structure of the program, supplemented by live music, food stalls, and carousels for families.

Parade

The parade on Saturday afternoon leads through the center of Ahlden and ends at the castle. Schützen companies in uniform, friendly associations from the municipalities of the Ahlden municipality, marching bands, and music groups parade festively.

King's Ball

On Saturday evening, the King's Ball is celebrated in the festival tent at the castle. The new Schützenkönig (shooting king) is proclaimed, honored, and awarded the king's chain. Live music accompanies the festivities late into the night. The queen, adjutants, and children's king are also honored.

Ahlden Municipality

The Ahlden municipality comprises the villages of Ahlden, Eilte, Eickeloh, Frankenfeld, Häuslingen, and Hülsen. It is located in the west of the Heidekreis district and is characterized by heathland and the Allerland landscape. Several Schützenvereine shape the club life of the communities.
