Soul on the Beach — An Amrum Specialty

While the official Amrum Sun Celebration takes place a few kilometers away on Strunwai beach with traditional costumes, a brass band, and a beach bonfire to celebrate the traditional midsummer, the Soulband Open Air at 54° North in Nebel offers a different vibe: Cover soul, funk, and classic rock — the warm, danceable sounds of the American and European pop-rock repertoire.

The Amrumer Soulband

The Amrumer Soulband is a cover band with a solid repertoire of classic soul, funk, and rock hits. Their set includes:

• Santana — Black Magic Woman, Smooth, Oye Como Va
• The Doobie Brothers — Long Train Runnin', Listen to the Music
• Jan Delay — Klar, Oh Jonny, Liebt mich
• Other covers of soul and pop classics by international and German acts

The Venue: 54° Nord, Strunwai Beach Access

The venue is the restaurant 54° Nord — right at the Strunwai beach access in Nebel on Amrum. The location is exceptional: the restaurant is situated directly on the access to the beach, with views over the white sandy beach and the Wadden Sea to the neighboring island of Föhr. The open-air stage is set up in front of the restaurant — the audience can be on the outdoor terrace, on the beach, and on the dunes.

Midsommar Atmosphere with Flower Wreaths

The organizers intentionally invite you to a Midsommar atmosphere: Flower wreaths, festive accessories, and summery attire are explicitly welcome — a homage to the Scandinavian Midsommar tradition, which is culturally present in North Frisia (Denmark is just a short ferry ride away). Free admission.

Nebel and Amrum

Nebel is the central village on Amrum, located between Wittdün (ferry terminal in the south) and Norddorf (in the north). Like all of Amrum, Nebel belongs to the district of Nordfriesland in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The Soulband concert at 54° Nord is one of the island's more relaxed midsummer events — laid-back, musically uncomplicated, with that unmistakable Amrum feeling.
