2nd Dürener Ukuleletag "Aloha Düren" — Workshops, Open Mic, and Concerts
The Dürener Ukuleletag "Aloha Düren" is one of the freshest music formats in the North Rhine-Westphalian festival landscape. First edition in 2025, second edition on September 4th and 5th, 2026. Venue: the green courtyard of the KOMM Youth and Cultural Center at August-Klotz-Straße 21, 52349 Düren. The format combines concerts, workshops, open mic, and sing-alongs centered around the ukulele — the smallest of plucked string instruments, which carries an entire subculture: from Hawaiian mele to indie pop to punk covers.
Opening Evening — Friday, September 4th, 2026
- 6:30 PM — Welcome and Get-Together in the KOMM Garden
- 7:00 PM — Opening Concert: PPNOU from Poland — described on the website as "the wildest ukulele band in Poland." Energetic covers and original compositions.
- Relaxed wind-down in the garden
The opening concert is the festival's only official concert segment and regularly attracts ukulele enthusiasts from all over western NRW and the Aachen region.

KOMM Düren — Cultural Center with History
The KOMM on August-Klotz-Straße has been Düren's most important alternative cultural center for decades. The former industrial building houses a concert hall, studios, workshops, and a large courtyard — the KOMM Garden, which becomes the festival grounds for the Ukulele Day. The center is supported by a dedicated community of musicians, volunteers, and the city of Düren. The Ukulele Day is part of KOMM's broad program of concerts, political events, and workshops.
Düren — Provincial Capital with Indie Spirit
Düren, with around 92,000 inhabitants, is located between Cologne and Aachen, nestled between the Rur river and the Eifel region. The city has classic provincial town structures — and precisely because of this, a vibrant, very local cultural life. The Ukulele Day fits perfectly into this character: not a mass-appeal mega-event, but a festival for enthusiasts, where everyone knows everyone and after two days, the feeling remains that you've helped found a small sub-scene.
