30 Years of Düren Autumn Market
The Düren Autumn Market celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026. Since the mid-1990s, the city of Düren has transformed its pedestrian zone into a large culinary and artisanal action space once in autumn. With around 100 stalls, it is one of the largest autumn markets in the region between Aachen and Cologne. The concept combines three elements: Shopping, Indulgence, and Culture – true to the city of Düren's self-description.
Date 2026: Sunday, October 11
The 30th edition will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Important: The date has been moved forward by two weeks compared to previous years – traditionally, the market was held later in October. This shift is intended to ensure better weather conditions and more outdoor atmosphere.
- Market: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Sunday Shopping: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Around 100 Stalls – Rhineland Meets Eifel
The culinary offer is the most important link:
- Game: Deer goulash, game sausage, wild boar specialities from the Eifel forests
- Pumpkin: Soups, baked pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin risotto
- Federweißer and Onion Cake – the Rhenish autumn classic
- Cheese: Rhenish and Eifel dairies
- Wine: Wineries from the Middle Rhine and Rheinhessen
- Beer: Eifel craft breweries (e.g., Bitburger, Vulkan-Brauerei)
- Baked Goods: Reibekuchen (potato pancakes), crêpes, fresh bread, early signs of Stollen (Christmas fruit bread)
Arts and Crafts and Gift Ideas
In addition to food, artisans from the region present jewellery, woodwork, ceramics, felt, and textile art. Some stalls change annually – those looking for gifts or home accessories far from the usual mass-produced goods will often find them here.
Sunday Shopping in the City Centre
Düren's Sunday shopping opens the shops in the city centre from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The combination of market visit and shopping is the concept: you stroll between the game goulash stand and the fashion boutique, between Federweißer and the bookstore. For many residents of Düren, it is the unofficial start of the season for the cool months.
Düren – Bridge Between Cologne and Aachen
With around 92,000 inhabitants, Düren is the largest city between Cologne and Aachen. The city lies at the transition from the Lower Rhine Bay to the North Eifel – geographically and culinarily the bridge between the two worlds. This is reflected in the Autumn Market: Rhenish wines meet Eifel game, Lower Rhenish Federweißer meets Vulkan Eifel beer.
