Anniversary Festival of the Brass Band in the Schwandorf District
The Blaskapelle Maxhütte-Leonberg e.V. is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026. The association is firmly rooted in the Leonberg district of the town of Maxhütte-Haidhof in the Schwandorf district (Upper Palatinate, Bavaria) and has shaped the musical and social life of the region for four decades.
Mayor Rudolf Seidl has taken over the patronage of the anniversary. During the ceremonial "Schirmherrenbitten" (request for patronage), the musicians marched from the town hall, the first chairman Christian Auburger presented the request, and the mayor symbolically took the conductor's baton from conductor Regina Sturm to lead the band in the song "So klingt's aus Stadt und Land." Such customs show how closely the association, the town, and the citizens are connected.
The band's repertoire ranges from polkas and marches to concert brass music – with pieces such as "Böhmischer Traum," "In Harmonie vereint," "Wir Musikanten," and the "Gamsgebirgsmarsch." This heritage will be celebrated at the anniversary festival with guest bands and a convivial festive atmosphere.
The anniversary festival is a classic Upper Palatinate club festival: festive atmosphere, brass music, catering, and social gathering. It honors the voluntary commitment of many musicians over 40 years and is also a celebration for the entire community of Maxhütte-Haidhof.
