Nordhorner Musiksommer — Umsonst und draußen

One of Lower Saxony's oldest open-air series

The Nordhorner Musiksommer has existed since the early nineties and, with its 34th edition in 2026, is one of the region's best-established summer concert formats. The concept is clear: five Saturdays during the summer holidays, one concert each in the Stadtpark bandstand, free of charge, under the open sky. This consistent repetition makes the series predictable for regulars and easily accessible for new visitors.

Stylistic diversity

The five concerts in 2026 span a wide musical spectrum: Indie Rock and Pop Punk open the program with FRAUPAUL, Italo Pop follows with Liebe 3000, Punk Rock characterizes the concert by Small State, Tulpe represents classic German Rock, and Doppelbock closes with Folk and Punk Rock. This breadth has been the series' hallmark for years, ensuring that even guests with different musical preferences have at least one date on their list each year.

Bandstand in the Stadtpark

The bandstand is an open, semi-covered stage structure that has shaped the image of the Stadtpark for decades. With its characteristic arched roof and central location in the park, it offers unusual acoustics, amplified by the surrounding old trees. Those who bring a picnic can enjoy the concert from one of the lawns in front of the bandstand.

Catering and free admission

Catering is provided throughout the season by the company Schwarzer. Beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks, and snacks are on offer, which can be enjoyed without any obligation to purchase. Admission to all five concerts is free, making the series a classic example of municipal cultural work.

Series with a promotional profile

The organizer consciously focuses on a mix of established regional acts and emerging bands. This fulfills two functions: it offers the Nordhorn audience free summer concerts and, at the same time, provides many bands with an opportunity to perform, increasing their live experience and reach.
