Traditional wine festival of the Landau town village Arzheim at the courtyard of the Bischöfliche Amtskellerei
Arzheim is one of the eight Landau town villages, which are integrated into the municipal area as independent wine-growing communities on the outskirts of Landau. With its location at the transition to the Southern Wine Route, viticulture has shaped the village landscape for centuries. The Bischöfliche Amtskellerei – seat of the former administrators of the bishopric-Speyer vineyards – is the architectural center of the festival.
With the Arzheimer Weinkerwe at the end of June, the series of town village wine festivals begins, continuing until September: Mörzheim, Nußdorf, Godramstein, Dammheim, Wollmesheim, Queichheim, and Mörlheim follow. Each Kerwe has its own tradition, its own festival grounds, and its own dramaturgy.
On Friday evening at 6 p.m., Wine Princess Emma I. will open the Kerwe together with local mayor Michael Richter. The music club „Kleine Kalmit“ will parade through the village in festive attire, accompanying the opening with music. Afterwards, the wine service by the local vintners begins.
Throughout the weekend, the program continues with wine service, regional specialties – Saumagen, Spießbraten, Flammkuchen, Bratwurst – and changing musical performances by local groups. Sunday traditionally features the ecumenical festival service and a cozy Frühschoppen, while Monday offers a relaxed conclusion in the courtyard.
The historic courtyard of the Bischöfliche Amtskellerei with its sandstone walls forms a special setting for the festival. The combination of baroque architecture, vineyard views, and village atmosphere makes the Arzheimer Weinkerwe one of the most atmospheric Kerwen in the Landau town village circuit.
The festival features wine service by Arzheim vintners, Palatinate cuisine, and live music. On Sunday, a traditional Frühschoppen, and on Monday, a relaxed conclusion in the courtyard.
The complete stage program for 2026 will be published by the local association in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
