Solstice on the Baltic Sea

The Mittsommerfest Sellin celebrates the Summer Solstice on June 21st – the longest day of the year. The venue is the Klangpavillon on the Südstrandpromenade of the Baltic Sea resort Sellin on the island of Rügen, in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The pavilion is located directly in the town center and is within walking distance of the pier and the town center.

Scandinavian Tradition on the Coast

The celebration of Midsummer Night has a long tradition in the Nordic countries. On the German Baltic Sea coast, Sellin picks up this custom: The Mittsommerfest combines the idea of the solstice celebration with a convivial beach festival. The long, bright summer evening on the Baltic Sea gives the event its special charm.

Children's Program and Fire Show

The festival begins in the afternoon with a children's program: from 3 PM, puppet shows and a craft station invite participation, and an interactive sing-along concert creates a lively atmosphere for the youngest guests. The highlight of the evening is the fire show, which begins around 9:30 PM at sunset. Afterwards, the festival continues in a festive atmosphere until midnight.

The Mittsommerfest is aimed at families as well as anyone who wants to experience a special summer evening on the coast. With free admission and its program from the afternoon until midnight, it is a fixed date in Sellin's event calendar and an atmospheric start to the main season.
