Four-day anniversary festival of the Pressig Volunteer Fire Brigade to mark its 150th anniversary
The Pressig Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the oldest brigades in the Kronach district: Founded in 1876, it looks back on 150 years of voluntary service in 2026. For this occasion, the brigade, together with the municipality of Pressig, is organizing a four-day anniversary festival from July 3 to 6, 2026.
The municipality of Pressig is located in the Kronach district in Upper Franconia (Bavaria), nestled in the low mountain landscape of the Frankenwald. With around 3,800 inhabitants and several districts — including Posseck, which celebrated its brigade's 150th anniversary in 2025 — Pressig is one of the traditional Frankenwald communities. Fire brigades play a central role in the village-oriented club life.
Although the complete detailed program for the 2026 festival week is not yet available at the time of publication for Pressig, every fire brigade anniversary in Upper Franconia follows a proven choreography:
The grand parade on Sunday is traditionally the highlight: Patron brigades from the entire Kronach district and neighboring districts march with their festival delegations, music bands, and historic fire engines through Pressig.
In Upper Franconia, a fire brigade anniversary is more than just a club celebration — it is a village festival that involves the community, the parish, the clubs, and the neighboring communities. The mayor of Pressig, the district administrator of the Kronach district, and the district fire inspector are among the traditional guests.
The 2026 festival week celebrating the 150th anniversary of the FFW Pressig spans four days. The Mayor of Pressig will tap the festival beer to open the event, followed by a gala evening with dancing in the festival tent.
The highlight of the festival week traditionally falls on Sunday, July 5, 2026: a festival service, a morning pint (Frühschoppen), and in the afternoon, the grand parade of patron brigades and friendly brigades from the region through the village. Patron colleagues from the Kronach district and adjacent districts are expected with their festival delegations, music bands, and historic wagons.
On Monday, the traditional farewell day for Franconian club anniversaries, the festival concludes with dance music.
The complete detailed program with times and bands will be announced in advance on pressig.de and the Pressig Fire Brigade's Facebook page.
