Living Marksmen's Customs in the Frankenwald

The Schützenfest Pressig is one of the most traditional events in the market town of Pressig, located in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in northern Bavaria. The festival is organized by the Zimmerstutzen-Schützengesellschaft »Schützenlust 1886« Pressig e.V., whose roots date back to 1886. For the marksmen and women, the Schützenfest is the convivial highlight of the entire club year.

Parade and Proclamation of the King

The centerpiece is the solemn parade, which leads the marksmen in their club uniforms, flag delegations, music bands, and honored guests through the streets of Pressig. The procession is accompanied by brass band music and the sounds of local clubs. The traditional highlight of the festival is the proclamation of the new marksmen's queen or king, which is awaited with great anticipation.

Competitions and Conviviality

Throughout the festival weekend, the marksmen compete in sporting shooting competitions, while the festival tent provides entertainment, food, and drinks.
