Traditional marksmen's festival in the Frankenwald with a parade
The Zimmerstutzen shooting club »Schützenlust 1886« Pressig e. V. is one of the oldest clubs in the market town of Pressig, a municipality in the Kronach district in the Upper Franconian part of Bavaria on the edge of the Frankenwald. Since its founding in 1886, the club has cultivated the marksmen's tradition and is an integral part of village club life. The annual Schützenfest is more than just a sporting competition: it is a celebration of community that brings together the entire population of the town.
The central element of the Schützenfest is the grand parade, which traditionally takes place at 1:30 PM through Pressig. Delegations of marksmen, music bands, traditional costume groups, and friendly clubs from the surrounding area accompany the procession, at the head of which the reigning Marksmen's King is led with the King's chain. The parade ends at the festival grounds, where the convivial gathering with the festival activities begins.
Around the actual festival weekend, the King's and prize shooting competitions take place over several weeks, during which the new Marksmen's King is determined among the members. The club also accompanies the church year and participates with delegations in the Corpus Christi procession as well as in festivals of friendly marksmen's associations in Friedersdorf, Ebersdorf, and Ludwigsstadt.
The Schützenfest in Pressig is an example of the vibrant club culture of the Frankenwald. Here, sporting ambition, church traditions, and village conviviality combine to create a festival that sustains the cohesion of the market town across generations.
For 2026, the Pressig Marksmen's Association invites you to its Schützenfest with a parade. The grand procession through Pressig starts on Sunday, June 14, at 1:30 PM and leads marksmen's delegations, music bands, and friendly clubs through the town.
The prize and King's shooting competitions, where the new Marksmen's King will be determined, will already take place on May 29 and 30, 2026. On June 4, the club will accompany the Corpus Christi procession, followed by appearances at festivals of friendly marksmen's associations in Friedersdorf, Ebersdorf, and Ludwigsstadt. Further shooting dates will follow in August and September, with the year-end celebration and King's award ceremony scheduled for December 12.
Admission to the Schützenfest and the parade is free. Food and drinks are offered at local prices.
