Hoffest of the Rachtig winegrowers around Ascension Day with open courtyards and regional specialties
The long weekend around Ascension Day is traditionally one of the busiest travel times in the Mosel Valley. Numerous districts organize courtyard festivals in parallel, allowing visitors to experience a dense network of events. The Weinhöfefest in Rachtig is part of this coordinated early summer offering.
From May 14th to 17th, 2026, the Rachtig winegrowers will open their courtyards, cellars, and vinotheques. In a quiet, very village-like setting, visitors can wander between the locations, taste wines, chat with the winegrowing families, and enjoy regional dishes – Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Winzervesper, Schiefertaler ham, cheese platters.
In mid-May, the vines are in full bloom or close to it – a special phase in the wine year that makes the Weinhöfefest an attractive date. Those who combine the festival with a hike through the steep slopes around Rachtig and Zeltingen will experience the Mosel Valley in one of its most beautiful vegetation phases.
Parallel to the Weinhöfefest in Rachtig, numerous other courtyard festivals are taking place on the Middle Mosel – including the Open Cellar Days in Traben-Trarbach and Wolf. Those who want to use the Ascension Day weekend for intensive wine exploration will find an exceptionally dense offering.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of the Rachtig courtyard festivals. Participating winegrowers individually decide on their opening hours, food menu, and any musical program.
On all four days, visitors can wander between the courtyards on foot, taste wines, and experience the Mosel Valley in its early summer atmosphere.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of the Middle Mosel courtyard festivals around Ascension Day:
