Sunday fireworks in Herborn
The Herborn Martini market is among the most traditional markets in central Hesse. Its first documentary mention dates from 1465. The name comes from St. Martin's Day on November 11, the usual date for autumn markets in the Rhineland and Hesse.
More than 100 exhibitors set up their stalls in the half-timbered old town and on the neighbouring market grounds, from textiles through leather goods, shoes and gifts to crafts, household goods and regional specialities. A Ferris wheel, dodgems and children's carousels turn on the market grounds. The market charges no admission. Payment is due at the rides and food stands, and from Herborn station it is a ten-minute walk.
The big fireworks go up on Sunday evening around 7 pm. The half-timbered facades of the old town and the castle complex form the backdrop.
