In 2026, the Herborn Martini Market looks back on a 561-year history: first documented mention in 1465 — making it one of the oldest continuously held markets in Central Hesse. The name derives from St. Martin's Day (November 11th), the traditional date for such autumn markets in the Rhineland and Hesse regions, when trade took place after the harvest.

Over 100 exhibitors set up their stalls throughout the half-timbered old town and on the adjacent market grounds. On the market grounds, there are amusement rides — Ferris wheel, bumper cars, children's carousels, shooting galleries, and food stalls.
