Zusmarshausen — Market on the Reichsstraße

Zusmarshausen is a market town with around 6,500 inhabitants in the Swabian district of Augsburg, located on the historic Reichsstraße between Augsburg and Ulm. The municipality boasts a long tradition of clubs, at the center of which are the Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Market Band. In 2026, two round anniversaries of both clubs fall in the same year — the ideal occasion for a grand joint festival. This idea gave rise to ZUS2026: the double anniversary festival, which will take place from May 14th to 17th, 2026, at the Zusmarshausen festival grounds.

150 Years FFW + 325 Years Market Band

The Zusmarshausen Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1876 and celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2026. The Zusmarshausen Market Band is even older — founded in 1701, it looks back on 325 years of club history in 2026. Both clubs are deeply rooted in the market town and play a crucial role in club life. The joint idea of celebrating the anniversary together, rather than holding separate festivals, has developed into the ZUS2026 brand — including its own website (zus2026.de) and promotional film.

"humpta meets tata" — The Festival's Trademark

The humorous motto "#humpta meets tata" combines the acoustic trademarks of the two anniversary celebrants: the "Humpta" rhythm of the Market Band's brass music and the "Tata" signals of the fire sirens. A parade on the main festival day, several festival evenings with live bands in the festival tent, a morning pint (Frühschoppen), a family program, and the traditional beer tapping ceremony are part of the program. The festival host and beer partner is the Schwarzbräu brewery from Zusmarshausen — one of the oldest and most traditional brewing companies in the region, which has supplied the market town's beer for generations.

Four Days at the Festival Grounds

From Thursday, May 14th, to Sunday, May 17th, 2026, the Zusmarshausen festival grounds will become the focal point of the market town. The large festival tent can accommodate several thousand visitors. On Sunday morning, the parade will march through the town center with clubs and music bands from the entire region. The Augsburg district and the entire Swabian surrounding area will be mobilized for the festival days. For thousands of visitors, ZUS2026 is likely to be the club event of the year 2026 in Swabia.
