Zollchow in Milower Land

Zollchow is a small village in the municipality of Milower Land in the Havelland district, about 80 km west of Berlin and directly on the border with Saxony-Anhalt. The municipality of Milower Land unites ten districts along the Havel river and on the edge of the Westhavelland — a very rural region with low-lying moors, floodplains, and a high population of storks. Zollchow is one of the more active villages in the municipality and organizes several village events throughout the year: village festival, wreath-stabbing (Kranzstechen), game nights, Christmas parties, and an Advent market.

Village Festival — Brandenburg Summer Tradition

The Dorffest is the summer highlight in Zollchow's event calendar. It takes place every year in June — in 2026 on Saturday, June 20. Like many Brandenburg village festivals, it is a community effort: the Volunteer Fire Department, the sports club, and the village community jointly organize the stage, catering, and program. The format is intimate and heartfelt — not a mass event, but a gathering where all generations of the village and guests from the surrounding area come together.

Program Character

Although the detailed program for 2026 will only be published on the municipal website shortly before the date, the Zollchow village festival follows a proven concept from previous editions:

• Stage with Live Music — mostly regional bands, Schlager, and folk music, DJ in the late evening.
• Catering by the Fire Department — Bratwurst, steak, draft beer.
• Games and Competitions — tug-of-war, beer mug sliding, boot throwing.
• Children's program with bouncy castle, face painting, water games.
• Dancing on the village green until late at night.

Explore Havelland

Zollchow is located directly on the Havel river, near the stork capital Rühstädt and the Westhavelland — one of the largest contiguous low-lying moor areas in Central Europe and home to countless birds. Those who stay longer can visit the Rühstädt Stork Tower, book a punt trip on the Havel, or hike in the Lower Havel River Landscape National Park. The village festival is a good reason to spend a summer weekend in this quiet corner of Brandenburg.
