Advent festival at the historic Lucke-Hof Premnitz on December 5, 2026
In western Brandenburg, in the Havelland region between Rathenow and Brandenburg an der Havel, lies a small piece of living local history: the Lucke-Hof in Premnitz. The historic four-sided farmstead, dating back to the late 18th century, has been lovingly restored by the Förderverein Lucke-Hof e.V. (Lucke-Hof Support Association) and now serves as a museum, meeting place, and event venue. Once a year, on the first or second Saturday of Advent, the farmstead becomes the setting for the „Stallweihnacht im Lichterglanz“ — enchanting its guests with an Advent atmosphere rarely found in the large Christmas markets of the cities.
The heart of the Stallweihnacht beats in the historic clay oven of the Lucke-Hof. The over-a-hundred-year-old oven is fired up on the festival day, and throughout the afternoon, members of the support association bake fresh bread, rolls, and Stuten (a type of sweet bread) according to traditional recipes. The aroma fills the entire courtyard — and the warm bread, fresh from the oven, spread with butter, is one of the most beautiful Advent experiences Premnitz has to offer.
Several times in the afternoon, members of the support association offer guided tours of the historic residential house and the farmstead. They share the history of the Lucke family, the life of a West Havelland farming family in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the eventful period of GDR agriculture, and the restoration efforts after 1990. In parallel, a festive cultural program unfolds — choir music, a brass ensemble, or a storyteller — accompanying the contemplative Advent mood.
As the sun sets over the Havelland, fairy lights, candles, and lanterns take over the illumination of the farmstead. The name „Stallweihnacht im Lichterglanz“ says it all: when the fir trees between the farm buildings light up, when the bread comes out of the oven, and the brass players perform their Advent carols, it's pure Advent magic — not staged, but born from a small community's love for their farmstead.
Premnitz, a small town with around 8,500 inhabitants in the Havelland district, is located directly on the Havel river between Rathenow and the historic cathedral city of Brandenburg an der Havel. The Lucke-Hof at Alte Hauptstraße 35 is a successful example of the preservation of a historic four-sided farmstead through civic engagement — and a popular excursion tip for anyone wishing to experience regional history in an unobtrusive way. The museum is also open at fixed times outside of the Stallweihnacht.
On December 5, 2026, the Lucke-Hof Support Association opens its courtyard at Alte Hauptstraße 35 for the annual Stallweihnacht. For over five hours, the historic four-sided farmstead transforms into a contemplative Advent market — with candles, fairy lights, and the aroma of freshly baked bread.
The program combines historical education (farm tours) with culinary experiences (bread from the clay oven, mulled wine, cake) and a musical backdrop that enhances the Advent atmosphere.
Free admission. Food and drinks at usual festival prices — clay oven bread approx. €4–€8 per loaf, grilled snacks €4–€6, coffee and cake €4–€5.
