Pentecost in the North Frisian Marshland

The Zeltfest Arlewatt is an established Pentecost tradition in northern Schleswig-Holstein. Arlewatt is located between Bohmstedt and Bredstedt in the district of Nordfriesland — in the middle of the characteristic flat marsh landscape between Husum and the Danish border. When the large tent of Zeltservice Bohmstedt is set up on the festival grounds at Pentecost, families from Arlewatt, Bohmstedt, Bredstedt, and the entire region come together.

Pentecost Saturday — Full Day Program with Family Focus

The festival Saturday kicks off in the morning with a packed children's and family program:

• From 10:00 AM — Children's quad course, bouncy castles, mechanical bull riding, ice cream
• 11:00 AM–8:00 PM — Tractor pulling: a traditional tractor competition where tractors pull loads attached to a sled as far as possible. A North German summer festival specialty that combines agriculture, competitive spirit, and folk festival atmosphere
• From 8:00 PM — Evening festival tent program with DJ, live bands, or dancing

Pentecost Sunday — Bon Scott Band

The festival Sunday is concert-oriented: Starting at 7:00 PM, the Bon Scott Band performs — an AC/DC tribute that brings the live energy of the Australian rock band with the typical Bon Scott repertoire (TNT, Highway to Hell, Whole Lotta Rosie, and many more) to the festival tent stage. The concert has been a must-attend event for the rock-loving festival crowd for years.

The Tractor Pulling — A North German Discipline

The tractor pulling deserves its own explanation. It is a competition where a tractor pulls a special sled (the "brake sled") whose braking resistance increases continuously — whoever covers the greatest distance wins. This motorsport discipline is very popular in rural Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony — a mix of show sport, agricultural culture, and folk festival entertainment. The Arlewatt tractor pulling attracts participants from the wider region.
