The Wusterwitz Lakeside Festival looks back on over fifty years of history and is considered one of the most traditional Volksfests in western Brandenburg. For decades, the three-day festival on the first weekend of August brought together residents of Wusterwitz and the surrounding area on the shore of Wusterwitz Lake — with live stage programmes, showmen, catering, and a maritime festival character oriented towards its lakeside location. The municipality of Wusterwitz in the western Potsdam-Mittelmark district thus has a cultural flagship that is known far beyond its borders.

2026 — New Tender, New Organiser

In spring 2025, the Wusterwitz municipal office published the tender for the organisation of the Wusterwitz Lakeside Festival from 2026 onwards. Interested event agencies had to submit a comprehensive concept by May 28, 2025. The office sought an "experienced organiser" to run the festival independently and sustainably — with live music, showmen, catering, and cultural performances — while preserving its traditional character and enabling future-oriented developments (economic viability, sustainability, accessibility).

What to Expect in 2026

As the tender for the 2026 festival is being reassigned, the programme and detailed schedule for 2026 are still open at the time of editorial deadline. What remains:

• Date: First weekend of August — a tradition the new organiser will uphold.
• Location: Shore and festival grounds on Wusterwitz Lake.
• Format: Three-day family festival with stage programme, showmen, and catering.
• Character: Tradition and customs, the family-friendly summer festival by the lake as its hallmark.

As soon as the new organiser is announced, the 2026 programme will be published on the municipality's website and in the event calendar of the Wusterwitz municipal office.

Wusterwitz — Harbour Town on the Western Edge of the Mark

Wusterwitz is located in the westernmost corner of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, directly on the border with Saxony-Anhalt — the postal code 39249 is actually in Saxony-Anhalt, yet the town belongs administratively to Brandenburg. With just under 1,300 inhabitants, Wusterwitz is small, but as a small harbour town on Wusterwitz Lake, it is a popular local recreation destination. The lake is part of the Lower Havel/West Havelland natural area and is located on a branch of the Elbe-Havel Canal.
