Small, family-friendly wine village in the Tauber region
Wittighausen is located in the Main-Tauber district, in the northernmost part of Baden-Württemberg, approximately between Bad Mergentheim and Würzburg. With just under 2,100 inhabitants and a rural, wine-growing environment, Wittighausen is a typical community in Tauberfranken — a region that culturally and linguistically approaches southern Bavaria. The wine-growing tradition here remains unbroken.
The Wittighäuser Weindorf is deliberately designed as a small, family-friendly wine village — a quiet alternative to the large wine festivals of Tauberfranken (Marktheidenfeld, Würzburg, Tauberbischofsheim). Those who are not looking for crowds but a cozy wine weekend in a village atmosphere will find themselves here. The event takes place in the village center and squares of Wittighausen.
The organizer is SV Wittighausen — the local sports club that has been organizing the Weindorf for years. The club character shapes the festival: personal service, club bar, members in service, a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The wines come from the immediate region — Tauberfranken is one of Germany's northernmost wine regions, focusing on Franconian wines, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, and Bacchus. Fresh summer wines like rosé and the typical Tauberfranken "Schoppen" (a glass of wine) are also served. The wines are accompanied by regional specialties — Franconian bratwurst, bread, cold cuts, dumplings, and specialties from the Tauber region.
Anyone looking for a "particularly quiet" wine festival will find the right format at the Wittighäuser Weindorf. Small, personal, without crowds. The program typically includes: wine service from the afternoon, catering by SV members, and occasional musical accompaniment by local bands in the evening.
The Wittighäuser Weindorf 2026 opens its doors on August 12–13 in the village center. As every year, SV Wittighausen is organizing a deliberately small, personal Weindorf format — far from any mass event.
Tauberfranken wines — predominantly Franconian wines such as Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, and rosé — will be served by the club bar. Dishes from the Tauber region complement the wines.
