The Winterdorf Gummersbach 2026 opens on Thursday, November 12, and closes on Wednesday, December 23. On Steinmüllerallee, a covered hut landscape with 500 seats, arts and crafts, a children's carousel, and a stage will once again be created. Free admission. Tables can be reserved online.

Six Weeks of Covered Winter Village

From November 12 to December 23, 2026, the Winterdorf Gummersbach will once again extend over approximately 3,000 square meters on Steinmüllerallee. Wooden walkways, evergreen fir garlands, artificial snow, and atmospheric lighting create the typical hut atmosphere.

The hut bar offers 500 seats, along with stalls selling arts and crafts, show workshops by artisans, a children's carousel, and a stage with live music. It is open daily from 12 PM to 10:30 PM (Sun–Thu) or 11 PM (Fri–Sat).

Getting There

By car via the A 4 (Gummersbach exit). By train via RB 25 (Oberbergische Bahn) from Cologne Central Station, about a 5-minute walk from Gummersbach station. Free parking in several nearby parking garages for short stays under 30 minutes.

Six Weeks of Hut Atmosphere

The Winterdorf Gummersbach is more of a Christmas market plus than a classic Christkindlmarkt. From November 12 to December 23, 2026, a continuously covered hut landscape will be created on Steinmüllerallee in the heart of Gummersbach, covering around 3,000 square meters. Wooden walkways lead through the area, evergreen fir garlands and atmospheric lighting create the mood, and an area with artificial snow creates the famous Alpine atmosphere in the Bergisches Land.

500 Seats and Hut Bar

The centerpiece is a covered hut bar with 500 seats — a solution that works even in bad weather. The menu features regional drinks, mulled wine, hot beverages, and warm dishes from regional cuisine. Tables for up to eight people can be reserved via the Winterdorf website, and there is also a VIP fireplace lounge for up to six guests.

Arts and Crafts, Carousel, Stage

In addition to gastronomy, there are stalls with arts and crafts, show workshops by artisans, a children's carousel, and a performance area with a stage. The stage program includes live music, acoustic concerts, and selected regional acts on weekends. Overall, the concept is strongly focused on experience — a "sensory experience" logic that has found a recognizable audience in recent years.

Opening Hours and Admission

Open daily. Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 12 PM to 10:30 PM, Friday and Saturday from 12 PM to 11 PM. The sales stands close daily at 9 PM, while the gastronomy remains open until the respective closing time. Admission is completely free — the business model is based on food and beverage sales and a mixed calculation with local sponsors.

Gummersbach and the Bergisches Land

Gummersbach, the district town of the Oberbergischer Kreis, is located about 60 kilometers east of Cologne in the Bergisches Land. With around 51,000 inhabitants, the city is the economic and commercial center of the region. Steinmüllerallee, once the industrial axis of the Steinmüller works, has now been converted into an urban event axis — the Winterdorf utilizes this central and easily accessible location.
