A Wine Festival with History
The Weinkonvent Dürrenzimmern boasts a tradition spanning centuries. In the Dürrenzimmern district of Brackenheim, not far from Güglingen in Zabergäu, the cooperative unites its vintners and produces wines from the surrounding steep slopes. The annual wine festival is an opportunity to sample the convent's entire range over a weekend — from light Trollinger to robust Lemberger.
Saturday Evening with Live Music
The festival kicks off on Saturday evening from 6 p.m. with live music at the convent. Standing tables, long benches, fairy lights — the atmosphere is that of a classic Württemberg wine festival, without any touristy pretensions. The band or musical program changes from year to year and is announced by the convent at short notice.
Sunday Frühschoppen with the TGV Dürrenzimmern
On Sunday from 11 a.m., the Frühschoppen begins, traditionally accompanied by culinary offerings from the Dürrenzimmern Turn- und Sportverein (TGV). Maultaschen, Schnitzel, homemade sausages — Hohenlohe and Swabian cuisine to go with Swabian wine. If you're lucky, you might snag the last bottle of a small Spätlese from the previous year.
Zabergäu — Wine Land Between Heuchelberg and Stromberg
Brackenheim is a small town of about 16,000 inhabitants in the Heilbronn district, state of Baden-Württemberg, and is considered Germany's municipality with the richest red wine production. The Zabergäu region between Heuchelberg and Stromberg has been a wine-growing area since the Middle Ages — a weekend at the Weinkonvent is always also worth a small landscape exploration.
