Open-air culture series in the historic old town of Günzburg
The Günzburg Summer of Culture is one of the most important cultural series in Bavarian Swabia. From July to August, the historic old town of Günzburg in the district of Günzburg, Bavaria, transforms into a large open-air stage. The organiser is the city of Günzburg.
With around 22 editions, the Summer of Culture is one of the established cultural events in the region. Instead of a single large stage, the series uses the city itself as a backdrop: the bustling market square, historic squares and hidden courtyards. This creates many small, atmospheric concerts and performances over the weeks.
The programme is deliberately diverse:
Most events are accessible free of charge, unless otherwise stated.
The appeal of the Summer of Culture lies in the combination of high-quality culture and a relaxed summer atmosphere in the middle of the historic old town. Some innovations are planned for 2026: hitherto little-used locations are to be illuminated in a new light and become stages for special cultural experiences.
The 2026 edition of the Günzburg Summer of Culture spans the months of July and August.
