4-course menu with cellar tour at Weingut Udo Weber in the historic wine village of Monzingen
Weingut Udo Weber in Monzingen is participating in the Nahe 2026 Season Opening with a 4-course menu and cellar tour. On three evenings – Thursday to Saturday, from 6 PM to 10 PM each day – the winery will guide guests through a culinary journey. The starter, intermediate course, main course, and dessert will each be paired with the estate's own wines, and a cellar tour will provide insights into wine production and the storage cellars.
Monzingen is one of the oldest and most renowned wine villages on the Nahe river. The famous vineyard sites Halenberg and Frühlingsplätzchen are among the best Riesling terroirs in Germany. For the Season Opening, Weingut Udo Weber is adding another gourmet format in spring to complement its Erntedank-Fest (Harvest Thanksgiving Festival) in autumn.
The 4-course menu with cellar tour is one of the most intimate gourmet formats of the Season Opening. On each of the three evenings, guests are welcomed by the Weber family and guided through an evening that uniquely combines culinary delights and wine. The kitchen emphasizes regional, seasonal ingredients – asparagus, wild garlic, young salads, local meat, and fish. Each course is paired with a selected wine from the estate's range, enhancing or contrasting the flavors of the dish.
Before or between courses, the vintner will lead a tour through the cellar facilities. Wooden barrels, stainless steel tanks, the pressing room, and the storage cellars will be shown. Explanations about the wine year, the harvest, the vinification, and maturation will provide deep insights into the work of a family winery. Special attention will be given to the Halenberg and Frühlingsplätzchen vineyard sites, where the estate's 'Große Gewächse' (Grand Cru equivalent) are produced.
Weingut Udo Weber is one of the family wineries in Monzingen that preserve the heritage of a long winemaking tradition. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and special selections characterize the range. Monzingen itself is a wine village with over 1,200 years of history, a noteworthy Romanesque parish church, and beautiful half-timbered houses in the village center.
The Halenberg is one of Germany's most famous vineyard sites – steep, with sparse slate soils, south-facing. Riesling from Halenberg is considered one of the most impressive wines of the Nahe region. The Frühlingsplätzchen site complements this with an elegant, mineral style. During the 4-course menu, there will be an opportunity to experience these wines in a special way.
