One of Germany's largest street festivals – 47th edition on Wilhelmstraße
The Wilhelmstraße is Wiesbaden's elegant boulevard axis, lined with Belle Époque facades, the Hessian State Theatre, the Kurhaus, and the Bowling Green. When this mile is closed to traffic for three days and hundreds of stalls are set up between the linden trees, one of Germany's most beautiful festival backdrops is created. The Theatrium 2026 – as the festival has also been officially called since the 1970s – is the 47th edition and runs from June 12th to 14th.
The name Theatrium originated from the combination of Theater (the Hessian State Theatre is located directly on the festival grounds) and Atrium. The festival was opened in 1977 on the occasion of the reopening of the Hessian State Theatre – this connection between city and stage remains part of the festival's DNA to this day.
On up to seven stages – at the Bowling Green, the Warmer Damm, the concert shell in the Kurpark, in Burgstraße, and in the Kurpark – live music, show acts, and performances take place. Around 240 stalls are spread across the entire festival area: approx. 75 craftspeople with regional products and about 170 gastronomic stalls with specialties from all over the world. All stalls are obliged to use reusable tableware or biodegradable materials.
As in previous years, the Warmer Damm will be a Mediterranean zone under the motto „Ciao Italia“ – with Italian gastronomy, music, and lifestyle. New in 2026: an expanded Toggo children's area in the Kurpark and the „Arena of Skills“ of the German Football League, which will stop at the Nassauer Hof for the first time.
With an estimated 250,000 visitors over three festival days, the Theatrium is one of the largest street festivals in Germany. Admission to the entire festival grounds is free. The festival concludes on Sunday evening with a large closing fireworks display.
From Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th, 2026, the 47th Theatrium will take place on Wilhelmstraße and in the adjacent areas around Kurpark, Warmer Damm, and Bowling Green.
