Traditional wine festival in the easternmost wine village of the Rheingau
Wicker is a district of Flörsheim am Main in the Main-Taunus-Kreis district of Hesse – and at the same time the easternmost wine village of the Rheingau. While the "classic" Rheingau lies along the Rhine between Hochheim, Eltville, and Rüdesheim, Wicker, situated on the bend of the Main, belongs to the extended Rheingau wine-growing area. The Wicker vineyards – especially the Wickerer Berg – are known for dry Rieslings and Pinot Noirs.
The Wickerer Weinfest is organized by the Winzerverein Wicker e.V. (Wicker Winegrowers' Association) and has been firmly established on the first weekend of August for decades. In 2026, the festival will run from July 31 to August 2. The venue is the historic village center along the main streets, where the Wicker wine hosts open their courtyards as open wine taverns – a concept that defines the festival's charm and distinguishes it from centralized marquee wine festivals.
The program follows the classic dramaturgy of Hessian wine festivals: Opening on Friday evening, live music in the open courtyards and on the main stage. Saturday is the main festival day with a live program until late at night. Sunday morning features a 'Frühschoppen' with Hessian cuisine, wine from the Wickerer Berg, and sometimes brass music. The atmosphere is intimate, village-like, and direct – visitors wander from courtyard to courtyard, tasting wines directly from the vintners and eating wherever they happen to be sitting.
The Wickerer Weinfest is part of the dense Rheingau wine festival calendar, which runs from May (Hochheim) to October (Rüdesheim). Those who systematically explore the wine villages of the Rheingau will find Wicker to be the eastern endpoint of a journey that can begin in Lorch, Assmannshausen, or Rüdesheim in the west.

Those who systematically explore wine festivals will find here the eastern endpoint of a route that can begin in Lorch, Assmannshausen, or Rüdesheim. Between the Hochheim, Eltville, and Walluf festival weekends, the Wickerer Weinfest forms the bridge between the Hessian Main and Rhine wine regions.
The festival takes place every year on the first weekend of August in the historic center of Wicker. The Wicker vintners open their courtyards as open wine taverns – this shapes the intimate atmosphere of the festival.
