Village Fair in the St. Wendel Region
Eisweiler is a district of the municipality of Namborn in the St. Wendel district — a small settlement in the gently rolling St. Wendel region. Like many villages in Saarland, Eisweiler also maintains its annual fair, which traditionally takes place around the feast day of its patron saint.
St. Lawrence — Patron with Church Dedication Tradition
Saint Lawrence (feast day August 10) is the patron saint of the Eisweiler parish. His feast day coincides with the classic harvest break in the Saarland agricultural calendar, which is why the fair has been established at the beginning of August for generations. The historical connection to the patron saint gives the celebration its name, "Laurenzius-Kirmes".
Classic Fair Format
The festival weekend follows a proven pattern: Saturday evening dance in the festival tent with a regional cover band, Sunday festive service in the parish church, followed by a morning pint with brass music. On the fairground, there is a children's carousel, a shooting gallery, and a candy stall. Food and drinks are served by the Eisweiler clubs — sports club, carnival club, parish council.
A Village Festival with Community Involvement
Unlike the large fair festivals with showmen from all over Saarland, Eisweiler focuses on a club festival and family atmosphere. The stalls are set up, operated, and dismantled together. Anyone who wants to experience authentic Saarland village life — Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck) on a wood grill, cover band in the festival tent, brass music on Sunday — will find it here.
Kirmes Eisweiler — edition 2026
As every year, the Laurenzius-Kirmes in Eisweiler will be celebrated around the feast day of the church patron Saint Lawrence (August 10). For 2026, the dates August 6 to 8 are planned in the festival calendar of the St. Wendel region — final confirmation will be provided by the Eisweiler local clubs in early summer.
The program structure of recent years — dance evening on Saturday, festive service and morning pint on Sunday, family afternoon and winding down on Monday — is expected to be maintained.

Getting There
Eisweiler is located in the St. Wendel district, about 45 km northeast of Saarbrücken. By car via the A1 (exit Nonnweiler/Tholey), then L150 to Namborn and turn off to Eisweiler. By public transport from St. Wendel train station via bus line 600 to Namborn-Eisweiler.
