Summer concert with NordWestBlech in the baroque palace gardens of Clemenswerth — UNESCO World Heritage candidate in the Emsland
Schloss Clemenswerth was built between 1737 and 1747 by Elector Clemens August of Cologne as a hunting lodge and is one of Germany's most unique palace ensembles. Architect Johann Conrad Schlaun created a star-shaped complex with a central main pavilion and eight surrounding Kavalierhäuser (equerries' houses), with a visual axis towards the Gloriette architecture of the garden. Today, the palace houses the Emsland Museum, which conveys the history, folklore, and courtly culture of the 18th century. The complex is a candidate for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list and is one of the outstanding cultural sites in the Emsland region.
The Gloriettes — small ornamental architectural structures in the palace park — offer an extraordinary natural stage for summer concerts. The Gloriettenkonzert utilizes this setting, creating a connection between baroque garden architecture, palace ambiance, and musical enjoyment. Listeners experience the concert in the palace park, which contributes to the unique atmosphere of the evening with its strictly geometric layout and sightlines.
NordWestBlech is an established brass ensemble from the North German region, offering a varied program ranging from classical brass music, film scores, dance tunes, and festive arrangements. The brass formation's sound perfectly complements the baroque ambiance of Clemenswerth, providing a concert evening that fully exploits the acoustic possibilities of the open palace park. The concert's start at 5 p.m. allows visitors to enjoy the performance in the soft afternoon sun and end the evening with a stroll through the palace park.
The Gloriettenkonzert is part of the rich cultural program offered annually by the Emsland Museum Clemenswerth: From the ParkArt art market in August, through the festival premiere of "Schlosszauber" (Palace Magic), to "Advent auf Clemenswerth" (Advent at Clemenswerth) in December, a dense program runs throughout the year, making the palace a vibrant cultural venue that is active far beyond regular museum opening hours.
Starting at 5 p.m., a summer music evening begins, fully exploiting the acoustic possibilities of the palace park. The brass ensemble NordWestBlech ensures a concert evening with its diverse repertoire, making the connection between culture and natural scenery tangible. Afterwards, the palace paths invite you for a stroll through the historic park.
