Traditional funfair over Pentecost in Hückelhoven city centre — five days of festivities
From May 22nd to 26th, 2026, the Pfingstkirmes Hückelhoven will open its stalls in the city centre. Five days of festivities around Pentecost will transform the squares of Hartlepooler Platz, Rathausplatz, and Breteuilplatz into a continuous funfair mile with rides, stalls, food vendors, and live music. One of the most traditional Volksfeste (popular festivals) in the western Rhineland.
A visual landmark of the 2026 Pfingstkirmes: the 27-metre high '1001 Nacht' ride in oriental design. With light effects and thematic decoration, it combines funfair tradition with a modern show concept.
Another highlight: the 'Playball' ride with rapid spins and changing movements — for adrenaline seekers.
Over 3,000 free parking spaces around the funfair grounds — an advantage that larger city funfairs often lack. Family-friendly atmosphere without excessive crowds.
The town of Hückelhoven (approx. 39,000 inhabitants) is located in the Heinsberg district in the western Lower Rhine region (North Rhine-Westphalia), near the Dutch-Belgian border. Formerly characterized by hard coal mining (Sophia-Jacoba mine until 1997), Hückelhoven has mastered structural change with the Hückelhoven Lake (on the site of the former mine) and a vibrant club scene. The Pfingstkirmes is one of the fixed points of the annual calendar.
Five days of festivities with rides, carousels, food stalls, and special promotions across Hartlepooler Platz, Rathausplatz, and Breteuilplatz. One of the most traditional Volksfeste on the western Lower Rhine.
