Lahnstein supporting program for Rhein in Flammen Spay-Koblenz with live DJ and private fireworks
The Rhein in Flammen (Rhine in Flames) event in Spay-Koblenz is one of five major pyrotechnic events that illuminate the entire Middle Rhine Valley with fireworks and illuminated ships every summer. The main spectacle, featuring the grand fireworks, takes place in front of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress above Koblenz — the fleet of ships travels from Spay via Boppard downstream to Koblenz, where the final pyrotechnic show is ignited.
Along the route of the convoy, several supporting programs are staged — festive events in the Rhine-side towns that use the pyrotechnic spectacle as an occasion to create their own festive atmosphere. One of the most well-known of these local events is the Brauwiesen-Party in Lahnstein at the Maximilians Brauwiesen venue, a combined in-house brewery and restaurant located directly on the Rhine.
The Brauwiesen-Party program starts at 7:30 PM with live DJ Antenne Koblenz — the radio station as the musical accompaniment. The brewery offers its own beers (Pils, Helles, seasonal beers) as well as regional dishes from the brewery's kitchen. The atmosphere is typically summery and Rhenish: beer tables outdoors, a view of the Rhine, and growing anticipation for the grand pyrotechnic event later in the evening.
From around 9–10 PM, the illuminated fleet of ships passes Lahnstein on its way to Koblenz — a visual spectacle with fifty or more passenger ships, fully decorated, cruising down the Rhine. Around 10:15 PM, the Brauwiesen launches its own private fireworks display — a local addition to the main fireworks in Koblenz. This allows Lahnstein visitors to experience two pyrotechnic highlights simultaneously: the distant grand fireworks in Koblenz and the nearby private fireworks display directly at the festival grounds.
The 2026 festival continues the proven concept of a supporting program. Free admission, brewery beer as a culinary highlight, DJ program beforehand, and live fireworks during the main spectacle in Koblenz.
